Battle of Gettysburg
Lost 16 killed, 67 wounded and 95 missing out of 281 engaged, including Major Felix G. Buchanan (WIA), commanding. The regiment took part in the initial heavy fighting on July 1st, as well as Pickett's Charge (more propery, the Pickett-Pettigrew-Trimble charge) on July 3. The 1st made it to the stone wall north of The Angle but was unable to hold its position and lost its colors to the 14th Connecticut Infantry. |
