Fall of Petersburg, attack on Fort Gregg

The regiment was commanded by Lieutenant Colonel E. D. S. Goodyear. Major Dandy and 10 other men were killed and Lieutenant Colonel Goodyear and 78 other men wounded. The regiment’s colors were first on the parapet, and General Gibbon praised the regiment’s gallantry.
