May 21 The 4th Connecticut Infantry Regiment was organized at Hartford under the command of Colonel Levi Woodhouse.
June 10 The regiment left the State for Washington, D.C.
June Attached to Abercrombie’s 6th Brigade, 2nd Division, Department of Pennsylvania for duty at Chambersburg, Pennsylvania, and at Hagerstown, Maryland.
July 4 At Williamsport, Maryland.
August 16 At Frederick, MAryland; attached to 2nd Brigade, Banks’ Division, Army of the Potomac
August 31 Colonel Woodhouse resigned. Lieutenant Colonel Robert O. Tyler was promoted to colonel.
September 5 Moved to Darnestown, then to Fort Richardson, Defenses of Washington

January 2 Designation of regiment changed from 4th Connecticut Infantry Regiment to 1st Connecticut Heavy Artillery.
