April 24 The 18th Pennsylvania Infantry Regiment was organized at Philadelphia and mustered in at Washington Square, Philadelphia, Pa. under the command of Colonel William D. Lewis, Jr., Lieutenant Colonel Charles Wilhelm and Major Alexander Niebold.

May 14 Moved via Perryville to Baltimore, Md., with duty near Fort McHenry assigned to the Department of Annapolis.
May 22 At Federal Hill in Baltimore
June 12 -July 23 Companies B and K under Captain Peter Fritz at the National Arsenal at Pikesville removing stores to Fort McHenry
July 24 Companies B, C, D, E, G, H and K and part of I reenlisted for ten days at the request of General Banks.
July 29 Relieved by the 5th New York Infantry and moved to Philadelphia
August 6 The 18th Pennsylvania Infantry Regiment mustered out. Sergeant Major Charles H. T. Collis went on to become colonel of the 114th Pennsylvania Infantry, eventually became a brevet major general, and earned the Medal of Honor.
