Commanded by Major General Dorsey Pender

The Third Corps was created on June 1st and A.P. Hill was promoted to Lieutenant General and Corps Commander. Senior brigade commander William Dorsey Pender was promoted to Major General in command of his own division. This consisted of four of the six brigades of Hill’s old division, and was assigned to Hill’s new corps.
