April 20 The 2nd Pennsylvania Infantry Regiment organized for three months Federal service at Camp Curtin, Harrisburg. It was under the command of Colonel Frederick S. Stumbaugh, Lieutenant Colonel Thomas Welsh and Major James Given.

April 21 Moved by rail to Cockeysville, Md. The destruction of a railroad bridge by Baltimore secessionists prevented the regiment from proceeding to Washington as intended.
April 23 Returned to York, Pa., and duty there.
June 1 Moved to Chambersburg. Attached to Wyncoop’s 2nd Brigade, Keim’s 2nd Division, Patterson’s Army.
June 16 Moved by rail to Hagerstown, then went into camp at Funkstown
June 23 Ordered toward the Potomac, encamping about four miles from the river
July 2

Falling Waters

The regiment was in support but was not engaged. It crossed the Potomac and advanced to Martinsburg.

July 3 Occupation of Martinsburg
July 15 Advance on Bunker Hill
July 17 Moved to Charlestown
July 23 Marched to Harper’s Ferry then moved by rail to Harrisburg
July 26 The 2nd Pennsylvania Infantry Regiment mustered out. Two men had died of disease during the regiment’s enlistment.
