August Organized at Richmond by consolidating the 318 men of Averett’s and Farinholt’s Battalions of Virginia Reserves under the command of Colonel Benjamin Farinholt, Lieutenant Colonel Thomas T Boswell, and Major C.E. Averett.
Assigned to General J.A. Walker’s Brigade, Department of North Carolina and Southern Virginia. Posted to High Bridge, Mattoax and the Staunton  River Bridge.
1865
February Stationed at Clover Depot on the Richmond & Danville Railroad. Records show the regiment had 17 officers and 206 enlisted men.
March Transferred to General Moore’s Brigade, Department of Richmond.
April 6
Battle of Sayler’s Creek

Most of the regiment was captured.
