Battle of Sharpsburg (Antietam)

Commanded by Captain Abram Wimbish. The battery was posted to the ridge east of the village of Sharpsburg, where it resisted the advance of the Union 5th Corps.

October 4 The battery was disbanded as “inefficient.” This was not necessarily a reflection on the skill or ability of its men but rather that it was undermanned or underequipped; 28 men were transferred to the Richmond Orange Artillery and 61 to the Louisa Morris Artillery.
