General Robert E. Lee
After several weeks from the death of Stuart when the Cavalry Corps reported directly to Lee, on August 11 Wade Hampton was appointed to command the Corps. Kershaw’s Division of Infantry and Fitz Lee’s Division of Cavalry were sent to reinforce Early’s Army of the Shenandoah.
