Edward Paul Harris was born in 1837 or 1838 in Delaware. Before the war he lived in Georgetown.

On Sept. 28, 1861 he became captain of Company E of the 1st Delaware Infantry. He was wounded at the Battle of Fredericksburg on December 13, 1862. He had advanced to lieutenant colonel by July and was in command of the regiment at Gettysburg when he was put under arrest on July 2nd for withdrawing the regiment from the Bliss farm buildings without authorization. He was restored to command on July 4, but mustered out on October 28, 1863.

He died in the 1890’s.
