April 23 Organized at Philadelphia and mustered in for three months Federal service under the command of Colonel Turner G. Morehead, Lieutenant Colonel William L. Curry and Major John McManus. The regiment was recruited entirely from the City of Philadelphia with its core consisting of a militia regiment, the Philadelphia Light Guard.
