July Organized for thirty days United States service under the command of Lieutenant Colonel John P. Jenkins
July 3 Left New York for Baltimore, Maryland and duty in the defenses of that city attached to 2nd Separate Brigade, 8th Army Corps, Middle Department.
August 13 The 17th New York National Guard mustered out of Federal service.
