The 15th New York Engineer Regiment lost 7 enlisted men killed or mortally wounded and 3 officers and 119 enlisted men to disease during the Civil War.

There is a monument to the 15th & 50th New York Engineers at Gettysburg.

Originally oganized at New York City as the 15th New York Infantry Regiment.

Mustered in for two years’ service.

June 29 Left State for Washington, D.C. and duty as Infantry in the Defenses of Washington.
July 30 to August 4 Attached to McCune’s Brigade and Franklin’s Brigade, Division of the Potomac
September 26 Attached to Newton’s Brigade.
October 25

The regiment was redesignated as the 15th New York Engineer Regiment

October Duty at Washington and Alexandria attached to Engineer Brigade, Army of the Potomac.
