July 3 One hundred men from the regiment, most from Company A, volunteered for three months United States service and left the state for Washington, D.C. The regiment’s Lieutenant Colonel Thomas C. Devin commanded them with the rank of captain.
July 14 Mustered in at Washington
Provost duty in the defenses of that city; participated in skirmishes at Fall’s Church, Vienna and Lewinsville, Virginia
October 23 Mustered out at New York City
