April The 7th Pennsylvania Infantry Regiment was organized at Harrisburg for three months Federal service under the command of Colonel William Irvin, Lieutenant Colonel Oliver H. Rippey and Major F. P. Robinson

  • Company E – Allegheny, Allegheny County – Captain Frank Robinson
  • Company F – Pittsburg, Allegheny County – Captain Joesph Gerard
  • Company G – Reading, Berks County – Captain Albert Rightmyer
  • Company H – Boalsburg, Centre County – Captain Robert McFarland
  • Company I – Lewistown, Mifflin County – Captain Henry Zollinger
  • Company K – Pittsburg, Allegheny County – Captain William Trovillo
April 23 Moved by rail to Chambersburg and duty there as part of Patterson’s Deparment of Pennsylvania, where Colonel William Irwin arrived to take command
May 15 The ladies of Chambersburg presented the regiment with a national flag.
June 8-9 To Greencastle and on to Camp Williams
June 10-14 At Camp Williams. Attached to Williams’ 3rd Brigade, Cadwalader’s 1st Division, Patterson’s Army
June 14-16 Advance through Hagerstown and on to Williamsport

Skirmish with Cavalry
July 2 Forded the Potomac and marched to Martinsburg
July 3 Occupation of Martinsburg
July 7 Captain Gerard and Lieutenant Enright with fifteen men captured three Confederate pickets.
July 15 Advance on Bunker Hill
July 20 At Keyes Ford
July 22 Ordered to march via Shepherdstown to Hagerstown and then to proceed by rail to Harrisburg.
July 29 The 7th Pennsylvania Infantry Regiment mustered out. Colonel Irvin would go on to be Colonel of the 49th Pennsylvania Infantry Regiment.
