April	Formed by consolidating the 450 men of the 4th South Carolina Infantry Regiment into five companies under Major Charles S. Mattison and assigned to Anderson’s Brigade, Longstreet’s Division, Magruder’s Command
May 5	Battle of Williamsburg The battalion lost 12 men.
May 31-June 1	Battle of Seven Pines Major Mattison was severely wounded.
June	Assigned to Anderson’s-Jenkin’s Brigade, Longstreet’s Division, Longstreet’s Command, Army of Northern Virginia
June 27	Battle of Gaines Mill The battalion lost 9 casualties.
June 30	Battle of Frayser’s Farm (Glendale) The battalion lost 38 men.
August	Assigned to Jenkin’s Brigade, Kemper’s Division, Longstreet’s Command, Army of Northern Virginia
September	Assigned to Jenkin’s Brigade, Jones’s Division, Longstreet’s Command, Army of Northern Virginia
September 15	Battle of South Mountain The battalion lost 2 men. Lieutenant W.T. Field commanded the battalion as senior officer.
September 17	Battle of Sharpsburg (Antietam) The battalion was commanded by First Lieutenant W.T. Field of Company C, the senior officer present. It lost 65 men.
October	Assigned to Jenkin’s Brigade, Pickett’s Division, 1st Corps, Army of Northern Virginia
November 11	The battalion was consolidated into two companies and attached to the infantry companies of Hampton’s Legion.
