General Robert E. Lee
Hood’s and McLaws’ Divisions of Longstreet’s First Corps had been transferred to the Army of Tennessee in September and would not return until April. Stuart’s Cavalry Division was increased to a corps, with two divisions commanded by Hampton and Fitz Lee.
