Hood’s Division – Brigadier General Micah Jenkins

Hood’s and McLaws’ Divisions were detached from the Army of Northern Virginia in September of 1863 and transferred to Bragg’s Army of Tennessee. After the Battle of Chickamauga and Bragg’s investment of Chattanooga Longstreet was ordered north to retake Knoxville. His failed attack on Fort Sanders on November 29 effectively ended that possibility. He would return from Virginia in the spring.
