Based on OFFICIAL RECORDS: Series 1, vol 46, Part 1 (Appomattox Campaign) pp. 1267 – 1279
Although shown on most listings for the Appomattox campaign there are no records for Nelson’s Artillery Battalion returning from the Shenandoah after it was overrun and all of its pieces captured at the Battle of Waynesboro in March. No members were paroled at Appomattox, and one report states that the battalion disbanded on April 12 in western Virginia
