Early’s/Ramseur’s Division – Brigadier General Stephen Dodson Ramseur (to Major General June 1)

Early’s Division had been badly damaged by the heavy fighting in June, losing two brigades, gaining two others, and receiving newly promoted brigadier generals for all three brigades that remained. Brigadier General Stephen Dodson Ramseur transferred from Rodes’ Division and was promoted to major general to command the division.
